This is what participants told us about their travel experiences:

„I have been in Northern Ireland for a 4 weeks stay and worked in the South West College in Dungannon. I was very happy about having done this step. It was a real good experience for me being able to understand the working environment and the country. I just can recommend such an internship to anybody because living together with a host family really can improve your english language knowledge and you meet a lot of new interesting people.“

“We returned to Germany 2 weeks ago and it’s a strange feeling how fast a month could be passed. I wanted to thank you on behalf of the entire  Northern Ireland group for the organisation of this internship !

We are still totally enthusiastic how lovingly and naturally your mentoring was, not only by the host families but also by our BVHT contacts Sabrina and Jacqueline. Thanks for your support !

Thank you again having made it possible to pass this foreign internship !! We all would immediately pack our bags to get started again.”

Lisa Breitkopf (20 years) from the City of Frankfurt/Oder

“We’ve been picked up at the meeting point by our host family. When we arrived at their home we’ve been introduced to the entire family and - of course - a lot of question had to be answered. Right from the beginning we felt a lot of sympathy and very comfortable being with the family.

Work was really informative and our colleagues were very accomodating and gracious. I got along well with my them and the boss. In my opinion that was the perfect work for me as I have seen a lot of the country (Northern Ireland) and lots of houses of foreign families.

The mode of life is different than in Germany and people in Northern Ireland are very hostile to foreign people and workers. I really enjoyed the internship. My English is much more better yet and I will surely refresh it continously.”

“Lovely” would be the best word to describe the stay in England. My hosts Jayne and Bill were so great. It was a very busy house with 10 Students living there, including me, and of course the 3 grown-up sons and their own children, too. It was so nice to have someone you could talk to at any time.

Every morning I had to get up early to catch the bus to my work placement: a little web design company near Silverton. Every day they assigned different task which I had to solve. It was so interesting e.g. to learn so many about writing a formal client letter. I enjoyed the experience at my work placement.

The English Natives are very polite. They excuse theirselfes everytime, even for things they didn’t do. In addition they would never yell at other traffic participants. So concluding, I can honestly say the British natives are very pleasant. ...I have seen a lot of sight inside the UK and have visited as much as I could during these four week stay. “Are you going to visit the UK again?” “Of course, as often as it will be possible for me.”

Cathleen Kallus (20 years) from the City of Wernigerode
